Searching For the Perfect Dog Breed

Dogs are very loyal animals. Once you take care of a Dog, it will be your constant companion throughout your lifetime. However, choosing which Dog suits you best is no easy task. There are a lot of questions to answer and a lot of things to take into consideration before you can settle for a dog. To help you in this decision, here are some guidelines for you to think about so you can be sure that you are getting the right dog.

Are you an active person? If you are into a lot of sports and would definitely love to jog around town with your dog, then larger breeds would suit you. They need much more attention when it comes to exercise to make sure they do not go overweight. If you live a sedentary lifestyle, however, choose dogs that do not require as much exercise such as Chihuahuas or other smaller breeds.

How much time can you spend with the dog? Different breeds are cared for differently. Most long-haired dogs would need more attention in grooming. For dogs such as a Pug, you should be able to clean their nose creases everyday to prevent fungi. If you do not have too much time to spend on grooming, get a short coated dog that rarely sheds.

Have you checked your local shelter? If you haven't yet, it is highly recommended that you do. People say that you do not choose your dog, your dog chooses you. Going to a place where you can choose from hundreds of different dogs will help you in choosing depending on your specifications. Sometimes, even just a puppy stare would melt you to the point where you forget about the specifications!

Make sure that you are choosing the right dog that fits your lifestyle and your time so that in the end, you and your dog will live long years together. Good luck!
