So Which Dogs Are Good For the Young?

Having a Dog in the family is something that many people really enjoy. Just seen that cute little puppy running around the house and learning tricks is a lot of fun. But having a Dog also brings a lot of responsibility for its masters.

Choosing a breed of Dog to take to your home is not a very easy decision. There are tons of dogs to choose from, big dogs, small dogs, toy dogs, sport dogs, working dogs, aggressive dogs, toy dogs, well you get the picture. When bringing a pet home to you have to decide what role do you want the dog to take. There are dogs that are family and children friendly and there are dogs who do not like children at all.

When picking a dog for your family, especially if you have kids, you want to choose a breed that is good with children. There are some breeds that are not tolerant with children, and some that can't handle to be around children because they have no patience toward them. Below you will see some of the dogs good with kids.

One of the most popular dogs for the family is the Labrador retriever. This is a big dog with a gentle heart. The Lab is good in nature and they do not tend to be aggressive. They tend to be hyper during the first two years of their lives, but as they grow up they calm down. They are playful, intelligent and have patient toward kids. The lab tends to have a mild disposition and this has made them popular over the years as good family dogs. They tend to be people pleasers and love to be pet and care for. They need a bit of exercise to stay active and avoid boredom, otherwise they might cause some destruction around the house.

Another good pet for the family is the Golden retriever. The Golden retriever is also a big dog, and have similar personality as the Labrador retriever, but some people believe that the Golden retriever is even milder in character than the Lab. The Golden retriever is mild mannered, gentle and kind, and they love to be around people. They are good with the young, the handicapped and the elderly. They tend to be very friendly in terms of how they behave around other animals, including other dogs and cats. The Golden is perfect for people and children who love the outdoors and they enjoy playing fetch.

What is another dog that is good with a family with children? This is the beagle. The beagle is a hunting dog, and tends to howl, but if you can handle the howling they can become great companions. The beagle loves to be around the family and they can become depressed if left alone for extended periods of time. One of the famous beagles we all are familiar with is Snoopy. Beagles are not aggressive and they are friendly. They are also good watch dogs. They are good for small children because of their small size and they love to play with kids.

When choosing a dog good with children, keep in mind that not all dogs are the same. You have to very careful when you have unfamiliar dogs around your kid. That is one of the reasons why it is very important to find out which are the dogs that are child friendly. Not two dogs are the same, and even on the same breeds dogs act differently, but if you have done your research at least your will have a better idea of which dogs are more appropriate for the youngest family members.
