The Most Sought After Dog Breeds

There are over a hundred recognized Dog breeds around the world. It is difficult to choose just one Dog over all of them that are the most popular. You will find popularity often has something to do with the location of the owner and what is current. For instance we will look at the Taco Bell Dog, otherwise known as the Chihuahua.

The Chihuahua was made popular by the television commercials and then the movies with Legally Blonde in America. Many kids thought they should have one just like it. Of course popularity doesn't mean they are the best do to have in your home. We will look at the dog's characteristics a little as well. First the Chihuahua is a short haired, often bald, dog. It has very long and pointy ears in comparison to its face, which is small with a semi long thin snout. They are a very small dog that is easy to cart around in a dog bag or purse. Their temperament is one of refinement, but they are also very affectionate and playful dogs, which accounts for their popularity as well.

Poodles are another respected dog species. There are three breeds of poodle: toy, miniature, and standard. Poodles for a very long time have been popular because of their dignity as well as their coats. With a poodle you can have blue, pink, red, and any matter of coat color. You will also find the coat is curly. Most owners of a poodle will shave the body, leaving the head, end of the tail, a little around the neck, and a little hair around their feet for a more sophisticated look. They are also wonderful companions in that they have a lot of affection for their owners and do well with children. You will find a poodle is very intelligent, trainable, and will love to be around their owners. They are also great show dogs, which increases their popularity.

Golden retrievers are also on the list of most popular. The golden retriever is great as a working dog, leading the blind, rescuing the injured, or just for a lot of family fun. They are a larger dog breed offering affection, intelligence, and kindness. They don't demand as much respect, and are content to just be spoiled.

The last dog that is on the most popular list is the Grey Hound. The Grey Hound is very popular in America as a racing and show dog. They are also popular in the home for their love of children and their temperament. While they have dignity and a stately appearance they love to run, and play. They will also offer some of the best affection for their owners. They are a sleek animal, with a thin body, and long tall legs.

The list could continue for the most popular dogs including collies, German Shepherds, Terriers, Hounds and many more. The reason most of these dogs are popular is because of their temperaments. They are all affectionate breeds.
